Iva Zahradníková

Ballet Soloist

In 1994-2001 Iva Povrazníková studied the First Private Dance Conservatory in Prague. In 1997 she took part in the Dance Art Competition Show of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic and in 2001 she participated in the International Dance Competition in Vienna. Since 2001 she has been soloist of the Prague State Opera ballet. Here she performed in the choreographic productions by Jiří Kilián (Six dances), Libor Vaculík (Slavonic Duets, Hiroshima, Don Juan, Dances According to Brahms), Patrick Delacroix (Son chemin), Petr Zuska (Sonata, Šibeničky) and Pavel Šmok (Marriage, Pigeon, Stabat, Of my Life, Sinfonietta, Golem, Fairy Tale).

The highlights of her current repertoire include the roles of one of the wicked sisters in Cinderella, Charlotte in The Phantom of the Opera, or parts in the pas de trois and Spanish dance in Swan Lake.

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
